Forest School

The Forest School of the Vyhoda Narrow-Gauge Railway Heritage Center is a modern educational space created within the framework of the cross-border project ‘Carpathian Forest Schools – Pilot Cooperation for Nature Conservation and Environmental Education’, supported by the Ivano-Frankivsk Tourism Association. Drawing on the experience of Finland’s nature schools, the programme comprises 20 integrated theory-and-practice sessions that foster an environmentally responsible mindset, introduce children to local flora and fauna in their natural habitats, examine human impact on the environment, and promote the careful, sustainable use of natural resources.

The Forest School is equipped with multimedia tools—a projector, fixed screen, a modular mini-laboratory for experiments, and workbooks for hands-on sessions. The Centre also features a small cinema where an animated film on environmental and nature topics is shown for young visitors.

A similar school has been opened at the Maramureș Mountains Natural Park in Romania. Together, these institutions are designed to become hubs for extracurricular environmental education across the Carpathian region.
